Providing for the elderly is a role that the entire community of Ennis must provide. Through the Greater Ennis United Way programs the elderly of our community can receive hot meals and safe environment to meet and socialize with other seniors in our area.
Ennis Golden Circle Senior Activity Center
Provides fellowship, crafts, exercise, bingo, bible studies and outings for the elderly of our community. They provide senior citizens of Ennis a hot lunch and breakfast 2 days per week as well as picking up Meals on Wheels on other days. They provide transportation for errands and to and from the Senior Activity Center. Through the financial contributions of the Greater Ennis United Way they are allowed to provide food for the elderly, a safe environment for fellowship and transportation. Learn More -->
Helping Hands of Ennis
Provides food, clothing, and financial (rent/mortgage, and some utility bills) assistance to families in crisis. Assistance is subject to the qualification of clients, and utility providers involved. The GEUW funds ensured that we were able to fulfill our mission while maintaining a secure business operation. In 2017 we provided 2,842 individuals with one week’s worth of food, 1,027 senior boxes, $22,000 in financial assistance to 23 households with rent/mortgage and 20 families with utility bills. Meals On Wheels North Central Texas
Serves the children of yesterday by helping needy homebound elderly and disabled persons remain independent and healthy in their homes by providing home-delivered meals, daily personal contact, and support for individuals and their families. Each day, Meals on Wheels caring volunteers deliver noon-time meals with a smiling face that nourishes the spirit who are homebound elderly and disabled persons. Additional services include: AniMeals for our clients’ four-legged family members, nutritional supplements at a low cost and client support. We are helping nourish the body and spirit of our homebound neighbors. With community support we can address these issues and offer the security Meals on Wheels brings to more seniors in need.
